We understand personally how hard it is to lose someone you love. When this happens, we will guide you through the process in your capacity as executor, administrator or beneficiary, as quickly as possible. Our many years of probate law experience, in both estate administration and litigation, will help to relieve your stress.
As the executor or administrator, we will help you with the many steps involved in administering an estate, some of which include obtaining information on the decedent’s assets and debts at the time of death; preparing and filing probate documentation; completing claim forms; transferring assets to the appropriate beneficiaries; selling assets, including real estate; and analyzing, drafting and filing the necessary tax returns.
We will also help you with probate litigation issues that may arise. Whether it is due to the interpretation of a Last Will and Testament or the improper administration of an estate, we are experienced in working with Probate Court, either through mediation or trial, and we will work hard to assist you in the most efficient way possible.
Legal fees for probate matters are regulated by the Probate Court having jurisdiction of the estate. Most formulas are “percentage” schedules similar to that used to determine an executor’s commission. We keep detailed records of the time we spend for each and every client and only ask for a fair and reasonable fee based upon the amount of work completed.
