Attorney Kathleen Amerkhanian has practiced with multiple firms in northeast Ohio in various areas of law, including personal injury, business, juvenile, employment, probate and real estate. Ms. Amerkhanian has extensive experience in appellate matters and has prosecuted and/or defended numerous appeals in various appellate districts in Ohio, other state jurisdictions, as well as in federal appellate courts.
In addition to appellate advocacy, Ms. Amerkhanian’s practice includes advising clients on real estate, business, and employment matters, and drafting contracts, wills, and business formation documents. She has also represented homeowners facing foreclosure, assisting with pre-lawsuit negotiations with banks, as well as representing homeowners after a lawsuit has been filed.
Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Amerkhanian served as the Director of Communications, then Assistant Dean, at The University of Toledo College of Law. In this role, she oversaw media relations and publications and served as writer and editor for the law school’s 60-page plus annual alumni magazine.
Ms. Amerkhanian developed the strong writing and research skills that now serve her well as an advocate for her clients by working as a journalist prior to entering law school. Her work as a student and professional journalist garnered numerous honors and awards, including a third place honor from the South Carolina Press Association for in-depth reporting for her newspaper’s circulation category.
Ms. Amerkhanian gained membership in the Order of the Coif for graduating in the top ten percent of her law school class. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from The University of Toledo College of Law, where she was a member of the Law Review editorial staff. She received her B.A., cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh, where she majored in English Writing and served as a writer for the university’s student newspaper.
Ms. Amerkhanian is a member of the Ohio bar and has also been admitted to practice in federal district courts in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
